18-year-old arrested on fentanyl charges after offering drugs to a Flagler County Commission Chair

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said a county commissioner in Flagler County was allegedly offered cocaine over the phone by an 18-year-old who is now facing fentanyl charges.

Jack Fisher was taken into custody early on Monday morning, and deputies claimed he was found in possession of enough fentanyl on him to potentially kill 1,585 people.

Sheriff’s deputies and Flagler County Commission Chair Joe Mullins said it all began when Fisher offered Mullins an eight-ball of cocaine over the phone last week.

Although Mullins initially dismissed the call as a prank, he ultimately contacted law enforcement to report the incident. Mullins just celebrated 11 years of sobriety from a cocaine addiction. Following the arrangement of a face-to-face meeting, deputies had Mullins continue to text Fisher. During this encounter, Fisher was detained and a bag containing more than three grams of fentanyl was discovered in his possession.

People on social media have made accusations that Mullins, who is running for reelection, is responsible for arranging the whole incident in order to get votes.

Mullins said, “My sobriety is all I have. And it means much more than any election to me, and getting drugs off the street and saving lives. I’ve seen a lot of friends and a lot of family members die by this addiction and die by the opioid and drug crisis. I don’t want to see anymore.”

Mullins said that deputies are looking into how Fisher obtained his number as well as the motive for the call.
