Twelve units displaced after big tree falls on Ocala apartment building

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Fire rescue says that a big tree crashed through the roof of an apartment building in Ocala on Saturday night, displacing twelve units.

At around eight o’clock in the evening, Ocala Fire Rescue was sent to the Saddleworth Green Apartments located at 2901 SW 41st St.

A big tree was discovered on top of a structure, and fire and rescue personnel said that it looked to have been in the process of being chopped down.

Officials say the building was cleaned out and there were no reported casualties.

According to fire rescue, twelve of the apartments had sustained damage and were no longer livable. The families of those troops are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

An EF-1 tornado caused damage to this apartment complex earlier this year when it ripped through the area between Dunnellon and Ocala at a speed of approximately 25 miles per hour for approximately 28 minutes.
