“Some were just babies who needed life-saving procedures,” when children patients meet doctors who saved their lives

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLORIDA- Call it a heartfelt get-together that took years to plan.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Heart Institute was happy to see patients come back, so they could see their doctors, nurses, and other staff members again.

Some of them were babies who needed help to stay alive.

It was also a day that their parents will never forget, especially one man whose son had several surgeries at Nicklaus and is now healthy.

Nick Macchiarolo said, “The only way I can say this is what you guys did and thank you for giving my son this life with us is to see him playing with his little sister and his friends.”

Because of the pandemic, this is the first time in three years that everyone has been together. The party is part of Heart Month.
