Daughter, who was verbally abuѕing her 72-year-old mother suffering from dementia because she had enough of taking care of her 24/7, gave her mother a handgun and told her to do with it what she wanted before the older woman kiIIed herself; charged

Police officials said a 44-year-old woman who was the primary caregiver for her 72-year-old mother is accused of subjecting her to severe verbal abuѕe to the extent that the older woman decided to claim her own life with the weapon the daughter previously gave her.

According to the officials, the daughter, identified as Jaye, was arrested and has been charged with felony murder by caretaker abuѕe and kidnapping in connection with the ѕuicide of her elderly mother, identified as Lynda, who suffered from dementia.

The details of the incident emerged from Ring camera footage obtained from inside the family’s home. The footage reportedly shows Jaye berating her dementia-stricken mother in a degrading manner, likening her to a toddler and using harsh language. In one instance that was caught on video, Jaye told her mother to “take the pill, choke on it, and die.” The investigation showed that Jaye gave her mother a handgun, instructed her on how to remove it from the holster, and told her to do with it what she wanted before leaving the room.

Shortly after this, Lynda fired two shots, resulting in her death. The first responders to the scene were confronted with the outcome of this abuѕe. Investigators described the situation as a clear instance of the daughter suggesting her mother take her own life, a suggestion that was tragically followed.

Following the incident, Jaye was arrested and charged. She managed to post a bond set at $1 million. The case, still ongoing, has yet to reach a resolution in terms of sentencing. However, it has already sparked significant discourse about the need for greater awareness and prevention of elder abuѕe, especially among caregivers.
