Coral Springs moves forward with $50,000 grant to support major perfume store remodeling at Coral Square Mall

Coral Springs, Florida – The city of Coral Springs is moving forward with processing a $50,000 grant for Perf Opco LLC, the owner of Perfumania at Coral Square Mall, following the completion of a major remodeling project at the perfume store. The grant, which is part of the Coral Springs Economic Development Incentive Program, is intended to improve the exterior of commercial properties and enhance the overall look of retail spaces in the city.

“Now the city is in the process of reimbursing Perf Opco LLC, which owns Perfumania, for $50,000 worth of the costs related to the project,” said Sayona Khandwhalla, a spokesperson for the city.

The remodeling project included a wide range of improvements such as demolitions, carpentry, new windows, painting, flooring, and electrical work. The total cost of the project exceeded $100,000, with the grant covering roughly half of the expenses. City officials emphasize that such projects are part of a broader effort to enhance the visual appeal and economic vitality of Coral Springs’ commercial areas.

The Coral Springs Economic Development Incentive Program allocates funds to support businesses in upgrading their storefronts, aiming to increase property values and occupancy rates. According to the program’s website, the city sets aside $250,000 annually for similar projects, helping a variety of retail, industrial, and manufacturing businesses improve their properties.

While the grant has stirred online debate, city officials stress that the initiative is designed to benefit the community as a whole. By investing in commercial property improvements, the city hopes to attract more shoppers and businesses to Coral Springs, creating a more vibrant economic environment.

The Perfumania store at Coral Square Mall is now open with its refreshed appearance, featuring a modernized storefront and updated interior finishes. The remodel is expected to attract new customers and enhance the shopping experience for returning visitors.

“Programs like this demonstrate how targeted city investments can help local businesses succeed while also improving the look and feel of our retail areas,” said Khandwhalla.

As the reimbursement process continues, city officials plan to monitor the impact of the improvements on mall traffic and sales. The hope is that successful projects like the Perfumania remodel will serve as a model for other local businesses seeking to upgrade their properties and participate in the city’s economic development initiatives.

By supporting commercial renovations, Coral Springs aims to strengthen its business community and promote economic growth, showing that even individual storefront improvements can have a positive ripple effect throughout the city’s retail landscape.
