Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida cabinet approve land conveyance for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library in Miami Dade County

Tallahassee, Florida – In a move signaling strong support for former President Donald J. Trump, Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet unanimously approved the conveyance of a 2.63-acre parcel in Miami-Dade County for the establishment of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library. The land, adjacent to the iconic Freedom Tower, will become the first presidential library in the state, creating a space dedicated to preserving the legacy and achievements of the 45th and 47th President of the United States.
“Having the Trump Presidential Library in Miami will be good for Florida, for the city, and for Miami Dade College,” said Governor DeSantis. “No state has supported the President’s agenda more than the Free State of Florida, and I was proud to spearhead the successful effort to house this historic presidential library right here in his home state.” The decision was part of the September 30, 2025, meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, a body established in 1855 responsible for managing the state’s lands.
The approval of this agenda item was met with broad praise from the other Cabinet members. Attorney General James Uthmeier highlighted the symbolic and educational value of the library, stating, “It was an honor to vote in favor of making Florida the future home of President Trump’s Presidential Library. I look forward to the patriotic stories the Trump Library Foundation will showcase for generations to come in the Free State of Florida.”
Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia also expressed support, noting the historical and economic significance of the project. “As the home state of President Trump, Florida is grateful for his immense contributions,” he said. “I am proud to approve the conveyance of land next to the historic Freedom Tower, a symbol of freedom for so many, for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library. President Trump’s historic accomplishments have forever changed our country for the better, and we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to learn about his legacy of patriotism. This enshrines Florida as Trump Country.”
Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson added, “Florida is President Trump’s home state, and there is no more fitting place for his Presidential Library. I was proud to vote in support of bringing this historic tribute to Florida, where his legacy can be honored for generations.”
Currently, the 2.63-acre site serves as an employee parking lot for Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus. With the Board’s approval, the site will be transformed into a hub for educational and cultural activities, while simultaneously offering new economic development opportunities in the region. By situating the library next to the Freedom Tower, a symbol of freedom and resilience, the state emphasizes the project’s significance in the broader context of Florida’s history and its commitment to honoring notable figures who have shaped the nation.
The creation of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library represents more than just a physical structure. It is intended to serve as a center for learning, research, and historical preservation, providing future generations with the opportunity to explore the life, career, and presidency of Donald J. Trump. Visitors will have access to exhibits, archival documents, and educational programming designed to highlight Trump’s political, economic, and social initiatives during his time in office.
Beyond its educational purpose, the project is expected to stimulate local economic activity. Officials anticipate that the library will draw national and international visitors, contributing to tourism, hospitality, and related service industries in Miami-Dade County. By turning a currently underutilized parking lot into a destination of national interest, the state hopes to maximize both cultural and financial benefits for the community.
The decision underscores Florida’s role as a significant player in shaping the legacy of former President Trump. With unanimous Cabinet support, the conveyance signals a commitment to preserving presidential history while also leveraging state resources to foster economic growth. Governor DeSantis and his Cabinet members stressed that the library will stand as a testament not only to Trump’s tenure in office but also to Florida’s position as a hub for national political engagement.
As plans move forward, the Trump Library Foundation will likely begin preparations for the development of the site, including architectural planning, exhibit curation, and public outreach efforts. Local residents and institutions, including Miami Dade College, are expected to play a collaborative role in shaping how the library integrates into the cityscape and educational landscape. The library is set to become a focal point for civic engagement, attracting students, scholars, and citizens eager to explore the achievements and contributions of the nation’s 45th and 47th President.
By conveying the land and officially approving the project, Florida has taken a significant step toward establishing a new landmark that blends history, education, and economic opportunity. The Trump Presidential Library will not only preserve the legacy of a modern-era president but also reinforce Florida’s identity as a state that actively participates in shaping the national narrative, celebrating achievements, and supporting initiatives that inspire learning and civic pride.
This historic decision marks the beginning of what many officials hope will be a transformative project for South Florida, with long-term benefits for tourism, education, and the local economy. As Governor DeSantis noted, the library is expected to become a point of pride for Floridians and a destination for visitors from around the world, cementing the state’s reputation as a center for historical preservation and patriotic celebration.
