Coral Springs fire department kicks off Fire Prevention Week with Charge into Fire Safety jamboree offering hands-on activities for families

Coral Springs, Florida – Fire safety is taking center stage in Coral Springs this weekend as the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department invites residents to a hands-on, family-friendly celebration of Fire Prevention Week. The free “Charge into Fire Safety” jamboree will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the Coral Square Mall, promising a mix of education, entertainment, and interactive experiences for all ages.
City officials emphasized that this year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety,” highlights the importance of awareness and preparedness in everyday life. The event aims to provide residents with practical knowledge and skills while making learning about fire prevention engaging and fun.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of demonstrations and activities designed to bring fire safety lessons to life. Highlights include a live fire demonstration, where experts will showcase how quickly flames can spread and how to respond safely. There will also be a kitchen safety demonstration, teaching families how to prevent accidents during everyday cooking.
“Young participants won’t just watch — they’ll get to practice fire hose training, learn CPR and AED techniques, and even try using a fire extinguisher under supervision,” said a city spokesperson. These hands-on activities give residents the confidence to act decisively in case of a real emergency.
For children, the event offers a chance to meet Sparky the Fire Dog, a longtime fire safety mascot who helps make learning about fire prevention entertaining and memorable. From interactive games to demonstrations, the jamboree ensures that both kids and adults leave with new knowledge and practical skills.
City officials noted that the goal of the jamboree is simple but vital: to raise awareness about fire hazards and empower residents with the tools they need to respond quickly and safely. By turning fire safety lessons into engaging experiences, the department hopes to make lasting impressions that could one day save lives.
The Fire Safety Jamboree is free and open to the public, welcoming families from across Coral Springs and surrounding areas. The Coral Square Mall, located at 9469 West Atlantic Boulevard, will serve as the central hub for the day’s activities.
“Fire Prevention Week is the perfect opportunity for our community to come together and learn life-saving skills in a fun and interactive environment,” officials said. “We encourage everyone to join us, explore the demonstrations, and take part in the hands-on activities to make safety a top priority at home and in our neighborhoods.”
With demonstrations, training, and plenty of family-friendly fun, Coral Springs residents have a unique chance to turn fire safety from a routine caution into an engaging and memorable experience. The jamboree promises to ignite curiosity, foster learning, and reinforce the importance of staying prepared in every home.
