City commission shares important updates and upcoming events for residents of Coral Springs this November

Coral Springs, Florida – As November unfolds, the City Commission of Coral Springs is inviting residents to reflect, celebrate, and engage with the community while supporting local and regional causes. In a message to the public, officials emphasized the importance of giving thanks and coming together to make a difference for those in need.

In response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa, which made direct landfall on Jamaica and impacted several surrounding Caribbean islands, the City of Coral Springs has launched a relief effort to aid storm-affected communities. Residents are encouraged to donate essential items, including soap, solar-powered lights, and other critical supplies, to support those impacted. Collections are ongoing through November 15 and donations can be dropped off at City Hall Lobby, 9500 West Sample Road, or the Public Safety Building, 2801 Coral Springs Drive. For a complete list of requested items and additional information, residents are directed to the city’s official resources.

Amid these efforts, Coral Springs is celebrating a milestone in sustainability. The city recently earned LEED Gold Certification under the LEED for Cities and Communities rating system. This distinction reflects Coral Springs’ dedication to enhancing quality of life, promoting sustainable practices, and implementing innovative strategies in areas such as transportation, land use, and overall community development. City officials highlighted that this recognition is a testament to the city’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and livable urban design.

Community events this month provide residents with ways to celebrate local culture and honor traditions. On Friday, November 7, the Patriotic Community Concert will take place at the City Hall Lawn, 9500 W Sample Road. The event will feature an Eagles Tribute band, local food trucks, craft brews, and family-friendly activities. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged as residents gather to show support for military heroes and celebrate the community in a festive atmosphere.

Featuring more than 20 local artisans, residents can browse a variety of jewelry, ceramic dishware, artwork, accessories, and other handmade items, supporting local makers while avoiding crowded big-box stores.

The community will also come together to honor veterans. A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 10:45 a.m. at Veterans Park, 8601 Royal Palm Blvd, in partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs. No registration is required for participation.

The city is also supporting families in need this holiday season through the Holiday Toy Drive, hosted by the Coral Springs Police Department from November 17 through December 15. Residents can donate new, unwrapped toys at the Police Department lobby, City Hall, or Wings Plus on Sample Road. Donations will help bring joy to children in the community. However, stuffed animals, used toys, and toy guns cannot be accepted.

Families can enjoy a holiday movie night on Wednesday, November 19, at 6 p.m. at the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive, featuring the beloved classic The Polar Express. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for a cozy, festive evening, with treats provided and free admission, though pre-registration is required.

In addition to these events, the City Commission will hold monthly meetings on Wednesday, November 5, at 9 a.m. and Thursday, November 13, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend, with broadcasts available on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725, and AT&T U-Verse channel 99, along with live streaming via the CityTV platform. Residents seeking appointments with city officials can call 954-344-5911 for assistance.
