Baby shower in Coral Springs turns chaotic as man throws diaper boxes and assaults a woman before being arrested for battery

Coral Springs, Florida – A baby shower that began as a celebration quickly took a frightening turn when a man attending the event became aggressive, hurling diaper boxes and assaulting a woman at a home in Coral Springs. Authorities say the incident unfolded in the early hours of Nov. 10, leaving one woman injured and a 42-year-old man facing serious charges.
According to Coral Springs police, officers were called around 12:45 a.m. to a residence on the 3600 block of Coral Springs Drive after a battery complaint was reported. Upon arriving, police learned that Emanuel Leon Brown, of Fort Lauderdale, had attended a baby shower earlier that evening. The victim told authorities that she had met Brown for the first time at the event.
When the party moved to a Coral Springs home, Brown reportedly arrived upset because he had trouble locating the house. In the garage, police say Brown began throwing various objects, including diaper boxes. One of the boxes struck the woman, though she told officers the impact was accidental.
The situation quickly escalated when the woman confronted Brown about his behavior. “She asked Brown what his problem was,” a police report states, “and he aggressively charged at her and knocked her to the ground.” Once on the ground, Brown allegedly stood over the woman and began striking her multiple times, hitting her in the face and body.
A witness at the scene confirmed the woman’s account, describing Brown’s actions as sudden and violent. Authorities quickly intervened and arrested Brown, charging him with battery with intent to cause harm.
Brown was taken to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was processed and later released after posting a $2,000 bond, according to court records. Police did not provide details on the woman’s injuries but emphasized the severity of the assault given the nature of the attack.

The incident has raised questions about safety at private gatherings, even ones meant for celebration. Residents in Coral Springs expressed shock that a social event, intended to honor an upcoming birth, ended with such violence.
“This should have been a joyful occasion,” a neighbor said, “but it shows how quickly things can go wrong when tempers flare and safety isn’t considered.” Authorities are urging anyone who witnesses similar incidents to call local police immediately to prevent further harm.
For the woman involved, what began as a day of celebration became a terrifying encounter. Officials continue to remind the community of the importance of remaining vigilant and ensuring that even small disputes at private events do not escalate into physical confrontations.
