Family Bagels of Long Island announces closing of Coral Springs location after ten years of service to the community

Coral Springs, Florida – After 10 years of serving fresh bagels to the Coral Springs community every day of the year, Family Bagels of Long Island has announced that it will be closing its doors. The owners cited the challenges of balancing the demands of running a busy restaurant with family priorities as the main reason for the closure.
Located at 5906 Coral Ridge Drive in the Sawgrass Center, Family Bagels has been a staple in Coral Springs, welcoming regular customers, early risers, and families alike with a menu full of bagels, spreads, and breakfast favorites. On Wednesday, the owners shared the news on their Facebook page, expressing gratitude to the community that supported them over the last decade.
“You’ve been more than customers — you’ve been part of our family and our community,” the owners wrote. Their message reflected the close relationships they had built with patrons over the years, emphasizing that the restaurant’s success was as much about the people as it was about the food.
The announcement comes at a time of transition for the area, as another bagel-focused business prepares to open nearby. Long Island Bagel Café is expanding into Coral Springs as part of its growth in South Florida. The café will take over the former Hurricane Grill & Wings space at 6240 Coral Ridge Drive, which closed in June. Already operating 10 locations in New York, Long Island Bagel Café has recently expanded into Boca Raton and sees Coral Springs as the next step in its regional development.
While the closure of Family Bagels marks the end of an era, the owners say the decision was a personal one, driven by the desire to focus on family life after years of managing a restaurant that never closed. Running a daily operation in the food industry, they explained, is demanding and requires constant attention, leaving little time for personal and family commitments.
For longtime customers, the news is bittersweet. Many took to social media to share memories of breakfast meetings, weekend rituals, and casual visits where the staff knew their names and orders by heart. The owners expressed hope that the community would continue to enjoy the local dining scene and embrace new businesses moving into the area.
Reflecting on their decade of service, the owners said they leave with pride and appreciation for the support they received. “It has been an honor to serve you, to be part of your mornings, your celebrations, and your everyday lives,” they wrote. “We will treasure the memories, the laughter, and the connections that have been made over the years.”
Family Bagels of Long Island will officially close its Coral Springs location in the coming weeks, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, community ties, and countless freshly baked bagels enjoyed by generations of customers.
