Coral Springs High School theatre brings the beloved musical You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown to the stage this month

Coral Springs, Florida – The Coral Springs High School Theatre Department is set to delight audiences with a spirited production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, running from January 29 through January 31. The beloved musical, based on Charles M. Schulz’s iconic Peanuts comic strip, explores the trials, joys, and small victories of Charlie Brown and his friends, all brought to life by the school’s talented students.
At the heart of the production is senior Sam Douglas, who is both playing the lead role of Charlie Brown and directing the choreography. His passion for theater and dedication to his craft have been evident throughout the rehearsal process. “It has taken dedication and hard work to play a lead role. I have done research on the character of Charlie Brown and learned about the challenges he faced,” Douglas said. Beyond acting, he has taken on a leadership role as a student director, guiding and motivating his fellow cast members. “You need to have good chemistry among the cast members,” he added, highlighting the collaborative spirit that has defined the rehearsal process.
Joining Douglas as a student director is Tristan Chung, who portrays the ever-energetic Snoopy. With aspirations of becoming a film director, Chung has embraced the opportunity to shape scenes and influence performances from both sides of the stage. “I like to direct scenes, and I want to be a film director. To prepare, I have studied the Snoopy character,” he said. Chung’s attention to detail and dedication to both his acting and directing responsibilities have been instrumental in bringing Snoopy’s playful personality to life.
Angel Leal, who takes on the role of Schroeder and also serves as a student director, described the experience as both fun and enriching. “Being part of the play has been a fun and positive experience,” Leal said, noting the camaraderie and teamwork that the rehearsal process has fostered among the cast. Each student director has contributed not only to their own performances but to the overall cohesion and pacing of the show, making the production a truly collaborative effort.
Barbara Krantz, the play’s faculty director, expressed excitement about the upcoming performances. She has encouraged students to take on leadership roles, guiding them as they develop skills both on and off the stage. “The play will explore the challenges young people like Charlie Brown and his friends face as they grow up,” Krantz said. “The cast members are talented and dedicated to the show’s success.”
Audiences can expect a colorful, energetic production with lively musical numbers, playful choreography, and the heartwarming humor that has made Peanuts a cultural staple for generations. The story’s timeless themes of friendship, perseverance, and self-discovery resonate strongly with both young and adult viewers, making the show an ideal outing for families and theater enthusiasts alike.
