Missing Coral Springs runner Thomas Patrick O’Brien located safe after nearly two weeks of searching by family and police

feaCoral Springs, Florida – Relief came to the family of a missing Coral Springs runner Sunday as authorities confirmed that Thomas Patrick O’Brien, 32, has been located and is in good health. O’Brien had been missing for nearly two weeks after leaving his home for a routine run on January 11.

In a social media update at 9:30 a.m., Coral Springs Police announced that law enforcement officers had made contact with O’Brien and confirmed he was safe. “We can confirm that Thomas Patrick O’Brien has been located and is safe,” the post stated, though no additional details were provided regarding where he was found or the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

O’Brien was last seen near Northwest 28th Street and University Drive during what family members said was a typical morning run. Police noted that he had left without his phone, wallet, or keys, and that there was no prior history of mental health issues, substance abuse, or incidents of leaving without informing his family. These factors made his disappearance especially concerning to both his loved ones and authorities.

Throughout the search, O’Brien’s family remained actively involved, combing areas he was known to frequent in Coral Springs and neighboring communities. Local law enforcement coordinated the effort, using search teams and outreach to the public to gather any information that could help locate him. The family’s persistence, combined with police coordination, ultimately led to the positive outcome.

Neighbors and local residents expressed relief at the news, noting the uncertainty and worry that had hung over the community in the days following O’Brien’s disappearance. Social media posts from friends and family shared messages of gratitude and relief, celebrating his safe return.

Investigators have not released further information about why O’Brien was missing or what he experienced during the nearly two weeks he was unaccounted for. Police continue to urge the public to respect the privacy of O’Brien and his family as they process the event and focus on his well-being.

For O’Brien’s family, the search that began with fear and uncertainty has ended in relief and gratitude. While the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, his safe return brings a sense of closure to a harrowing two-week period.

Authorities are expected to provide more information in the coming days, but for now, Coral Springs residents and O’Brien’s loved ones can take comfort in the fact that he is safe and back with his family.
