Coral Springs honors six outstanding volunteers with the prestigious Lynne Johnson Awards for exceptional service to the community

Coral Springs, Florida – In a heartfelt ceremony at Coral Springs City Hall on Saturday, February 7, six individuals were recognized for their extraordinary volunteer work with the City of Coral Springs, receiving the prestigious Lynne Johnson Awards. Named in honor of the late Lynne Johnson, a devoted city volunteer who passed away in 2009, the awards celebrate those whose time, energy, and dedication have strengthened the community and left a lasting impact on residents of all ages.

Satya Rudin was honored for her work enhancing and preserving Coral Springs’ natural environment. As a Master Gardener and leader of the Coral Springs Community Garden, Satya has dedicated hundreds of hours to organizing workdays, managing garden registrations, leading orientations, and coordinating volunteers.

Thanks to her efforts, the Community Garden donated more than 200 pounds of fresh, organic produce in the past year, supporting residents in need. Her passion for nurturing both the land and the community has made her an invaluable steward of the city’s natural resources, strengthening ties between residents and city staff alike.

Working with Youth in Sports

Denise Fatigate received the Lynne Johnson Award for her decades-long commitment to youth sports in Coral Springs. Currently serving as President of Coral Springs Youth Soccer, Denise has volunteered as a coach, board member, and mentor, guiding multiple age divisions over the years.

As Chair of the Coral Springs Community Chest and an active member of the Coral Springs Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee, Janice gives her time freely and with a genuine desire to help others.

Diane MacInnes received recognition for her volunteer work with the Coral Springs Museum of Art. Diane has assisted with Museum Family Days, exhibition receptions, youth art classes, and behind-the-scenes event preparation and cleanup. Often arriving early, staying late, and taking on leadership responsibilities, she coordinates volunteers, engages visitors, and helps ensure events run smoothly.

“Diane has become an ambassador for the Museum, proudly promoting events, encouraging others to visit, and sharing her love for the arts throughout the community,” city officials said. This year, he played a particularly vital role when he helped clean and prepare the Museum’s Studio 1 classroom to protect the Museum’s private collection ahead of major plumbing repairs.
