New aviation program launches at Coral Springs high school to prepare students for high-demand aerospace and manufacturing careers through hands-on training

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs High School is preparing to launch a new academic pathway that could open the door to careers in aviation and aerospace for local students. The school has introduced the NCATT Aerospace/Aircraft Assembler Innovative Program, a hands-on training initiative aimed at building practical skills for high-demand industries.

The program is open to incoming eighth graders and current ninth graders, giving students an early start in a field that continues to grow across the United States. School officials say the idea is to move beyond traditional classroom learning and bring real industry experience directly into the school environment.

According to Broward County Public Schools spokesperson Cathleen Brennan, the program is designed to connect education with workforce needs in a direct and structured way.

“Students in the program won’t just be learning from textbooks. They’ll get the chance to build practical skills in aircraft assembly, structural fabrication, blueprint reading, precision measurement, safety procedures, and quality control, all while working toward state-recognized certifications aligned with national standards,” Brennan said.

The curriculum is built around both technical training and academic support. It combines STEM-based instruction with real-world applications, giving students the chance to see how classroom lessons translate into actual industry work. Teachers will also place strong emphasis on teamwork, problem-solving, and professional behavior, all skills that are essential in aviation and manufacturing careers.

Beyond classroom instruction, the program also focuses on exposure to real industry environments. Through partnerships with aerospace employers and colleges, students will have access to internships, mentorship opportunities, and career exploration activities. These connections are intended to help students better understand the expectations and possibilities of working in aviation-related fields.

School leaders say the long-term goal is to give students a clear and achievable path from high school into stable, high-wage careers. By earning industry-recognized certifications before graduation, students may be able to enter the workforce immediately or continue their studies in areas such as aviation, engineering, or advanced manufacturing.

The program reflects a broader push to align education with labor market needs, especially in technical fields where skilled workers are in high demand. For many students, it represents an early opportunity to explore careers that once required post-secondary training before hands-on experience was available.

School officials emphasized that the initiative is about more than technical skills alone. It is also designed to build confidence, discipline, and readiness for future workplaces where precision and responsibility are essential.

With the launch of the NCATT Aerospace/Aircraft Assembler Innovative Program, Coral Springs High School is positioning itself as a gateway between classroom learning and real-world aviation careers, giving students a chance to graduate with both knowledge and a professional head start.
