Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced the death of former sheriff Dalton Bray

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page on Tuesday that Dalton Bray, who served as sheriff of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office from 1989 to 1992, had died.

In the message, neither the cause of death nor Bray’s age were disclosed.

According to the Town of Orange Park, Bray was a former Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent. He was employed in 1984 and held the position until his election as sheriff.

Sheriff Michelle Cook of Clay County said in a prepared statement:

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of Sheriff Bray, who served the citizens of Clay County with great honor and distinction. I, with members of the sheriff’s office, send our prayers to his family during this difficult time.”
