Man wounded on Jacksonville’s Westside succumbed to gunshot injuries at a hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a man was discovered shot on the Westside and ultimately died at the hospital, investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were seeking witnesses on Tuesday night. The victim was located on the Westside.

At around 3:50 in the afternoon, deputies discovered a male adult who was between the ages of 20 and 25 at the junction of Detroit Street and West 3rd Street, according to Sergeant Steve Rudlaff of the Sheriff’s Office. After being taken to the hospital, the patient eventually died there from his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the surrounding area in order to locate not only witnesses but also footage that may be of assistance to the inquiry. The detectives were interviewing people one by one as they went door to door.

The exact location of where the man was shot is unknown.
