Tampa street blocked by traffic turns into acoustic-guitar concert. Local school’s principal was the hero

TAMPA, Florida — When Justin Youmans plays “Wonderwall” on his acoustic guitar on a busy street in Tampa, it might look like he is a busker or a wandering troubadour.

And yes, he is all of those things in a way.

But Youmans is also the principal of Rampello K-8 Magnet School, which is right in the middle of the downtown of the Florida city.

He is also making the morning carline a lot more fun for the kids, their parents, and the teachers.

“Connections with my students and with my family are very important to me,” said Youmans. “It makes it easier to trust.”

Youmans taught himself to play guitar by listening to Nirvana as he grew up in the 1990s.

Now, he’s playing for the people who love him and appreciate how he makes their mornings better.

“”Mr. Youmans, you play guitar really well,” the younger students tell me. So, you know, it makes me feel good “He smiled.

The rock star principal gives concerts all week long, but he usually leaves school on Fridays.

But I’m sorry, but this concert is only for people who live in Rampello.
