Broward Education Foundation supports education with free school supplies

Broward County, Florida – The Broward Education Foundation has announced the commencement of its yearly back-to-school campaign.
This esteemed non-profit organization started distributing free school supplies to teachers from Broward County Public Schools as of Thursday. This initiative offers teachers the opportunity to visit the center, based in Pompano Beach, twice yearly to collect essential items for their students.
Shea Ciriago, the CEO of Broward Education Foundation, stated, “At present, approximately 200,000 children attending Broward County Schools are living at the poverty line. Consequently, their parents face the tough decision of whether to provide food or buy school supplies. Our initiative allows teachers to shop for supplies that will ensure these students have the necessities for success.”
For this year’s campaign, companies have the option to ‘adopt’ a school. This initiative enables them to supply every student on their adopted campus with a backpack filled with school essentials.
The foundation has highlighted a list of most-needed school items:
- Backpacks
- Composition books (black)
- Crayons
- Erasers (pink rectangular)
- Folders (with 2 pockets)
- Glue and glue sticks
- Individual hand sanitizers
- Highlighters
- Single hole punchers
- Index cards (3″x5″ size)
- Markers
- 3-hole notebook paper
- Pencil pouches
- Pencil sharpeners
- Pencils (either #2 with erasers or mechanical)
- Pens (black and blue ink)
- Rulers
- Children’s scissors
- Spiral notebooks (wide-ruled)
- Clear tape
