Coral Springs man faces charges of attempted sexual battery and false imprisonment after allegedly attacking a woman walking home in broad daylight

Coral Springs, Florida – A 22-year-old Coral Springs man has been charged with attempted sexual battery and false imprisonment following an alleged assault on a woman walking home in broad daylight, authorities said. The incident reportedly occurred just after noon on November 9 near the intersection of NW 115th Avenue and NW 43rd Street, prompting a swift response from Coral Springs police.

According to police reports, the victim had been walking home from a Dollar Tree on Sample Road when she noticed a man, later identified as Jamarion Walden, wearing a dark ski mask and a hooded jacket, fully covering his head and face. The woman observed that Walden seemed to be standing and waiting along the side of the road, and as she passed, he moved in behind her, staying within two steps, which caused her to feel unsafe.

Without warning, police reports indicate, Walden allegedly grabbed the woman by the hips from behind and pulled her to the ground, forcibly removing part of her clothing as she screamed for help. He then dragged her toward a shaded area in front of an apartment complex. The woman managed to break free and run, but Walden reportedly caught her again and dragged her back, warning her to stop screaming while claiming he had a gun in his pocket.

Authorities say that Walden allegedly digitally penetrated the victim until a vehicle stopped nearby, at which point he released her and fled into the apartment complex parking lot. The victim was able to escape and call 911, alerting authorities to the incident.

Police located Walden with the assistance of video surveillance footage and a witness who had contact with him. During an interview with deputies, Walden admitted interacting with the victim but initially claimed he threw her to the ground “to move her out of my way.” When questioned about his intentions, he first denied any sexual purpose but later stated, “he probably would have tried to rape her.”

The Coral Springs Police Department emphasized the seriousness of the charges, highlighting that attempted sexual battery and false imprisonment are severe offenses that carry significant penalties if convicted. Law enforcement officials also praised the victim for her quick thinking and courage in escaping the situation and promptly contacting authorities.

Community members expressed concern over the daylight assault, stressing the importance of personal safety and vigilance while walking in residential areas. Police have urged residents to remain aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Walden remains in custody, and officials say the investigation is ongoing. Coral Springs authorities are working closely with prosecutors to ensure that all evidence, including surveillance video and witness statements, is thoroughly reviewed for the upcoming case.

“This type of violent behavior is unacceptable, and we are committed to holding offenders accountable while supporting victims through every step of the legal process,” a Coral Springs police spokesperson said.
