Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer officially announces congressional campaign to challenge Rep Jared Moskowitz in Florida district 23

Boca Raton, Florida – Republican Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer officially launched his campaign for Congress on Thursday morning, signaling a high-profile challenge against Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz, who currently represents Coral Springs and parts of South Florida in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District. The announcement comes after months of speculation about Singer’s political ambitions following his term-limited departure from the Boca Raton mayor’s office.

Singer, who has served as Boca Raton’s mayor since 2018, has spent the past several years building his political profile. Prior to becoming mayor, he was elected to the Boca Raton City Council in 2014, giving him nearly a decade of experience in local government. As mayor, Singer has focused on policies designed to support business growth and attract investment to the city, a platform he is now bringing to his congressional campaign.

In recent months, Singer has appeared on conservative media outlets, promoting Boca Raton as a destination for businesses considering relocating from New York City after the election of a Democratic socialist mayor there. His outreach has highlighted his focus on economic development and business-friendly policies, which he argues are essential to competing in Florida’s rapidly evolving political and economic landscape.

“After careful consideration and listening to the voices of residents in our community, I have decided to run for Congress to represent Florida’s 23rd District,” Singer said during his campaign launch. While term limits prevent him from seeking another term as mayor, Singer believes his experience in city government positions him well to advocate for constituents at the federal level.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, first elected in 2024 and re-elected later that same year, is seeking his third term in Congress. Moskowitz represents a diverse district that includes Boca Raton, West Boca Raton, parts of northern Broward County, and stretches south along the coast through Fort Lauderdale. The seat has been considered competitive, and Singer’s entry is expected to make the 2026 race closely watched by both parties.

Political analysts note that Singer’s focus on economic development, business incentives, and local leadership experience could resonate with voters who prioritize fiscal responsibility and growth. However, Moskowitz’s incumbency and established presence in the district may present a significant challenge for the Boca Raton mayor, setting the stage for a potentially contentious and highly visible campaign.

As the race unfolds, both candidates are expected to engage in extensive outreach to communities across the district, including public appearances, media interviews, and policy forums. With Florida’s 23rd District encompassing a mix of coastal communities and suburban neighborhoods, campaign strategies will likely target diverse voter priorities ranging from local economic issues to healthcare, education, and federal policy impacts.

Singer’s decision to run marks a significant step in his political career, moving from local government leadership to the national stage. His campaign launch signals an ambitious attempt to shift the political balance in the district and provides voters with a clear choice as the 2026 election approaches.
