Gone in a Minute! Coral Springs Oldest Building Collapses a Month Ahead of Schedule

The Financial Plaza in Coral Springs is no more, after the gutted building succumbed, ahead of schedule, to an eight-week demolition process on Friday afternoon.

Construction workers at the future site of Cornerstone brought down the north side of the building with their excavation equipment at approximately 2:36 p.m.

What looked like an implosion was actually the center part of the building collapsing.

“There were safety plans in place should this happen, knowing that as a building is demolished, there is a possibility of it collapsing on top of itself.” the City reported on their Facebook page.

The oldest building in the city gave up its title in clouds of white smoke captured on film, March 26, more than a month ahead of schedule.

Earlier this month, during ‘Slice of the Springs’, economic development director Kristi Bartlett anticipated the final stages of this demolition would be completed in May.
