FDLE Special Agent succumbed to injuries sustained in Miami-Dade crash

Special Agent Jose Perez, who was responding to a call when he was involved in a serious vehicle accident and sustained life-threatening injuries, passed away on Saturday, according to an announcement made by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

In a tweet, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said that Perez died from his injuries after “valiantly fighting for his life for 17 days after being hit by another driver.”

When Perez was on his way to an emergency call, he was involved in a fatal accident that was caused by another vehicle.

According to the MDPD, Perez was unable to exit his vehicle and was transported to the hospital with many injuries that posed a significant risk to his life.

A tweet from the Miami Police Department referred to Perez as a “wonderful police officer, leader, and friend.”
