Body of missing Port St. Lucie man found in canal

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.  — The body of a man from Port St. Lucie who had been reported missing early on Monday morning was found in a canal close to where he lived.

William Beaver, 83 years old, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. It was shortly before six in the morning when he was last seen at his residence on Mediterranean Boulevard.

The search for Beaver included the use of both road and air units. The sheriff’s office said that his body was discovered in the canal shortly before 11 in the morning.
