Two people dead and two injured in a DeSoto County accident

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. — A John Deere utility vehicle and a car were involved in a collision on Friday evening, which resulted in the deaths of two people.

The report from the Florida Highway Patrol indicates that the collision took place at around 7:30 in the evening at the junction of County Road 660 and United States Highway 17.

The two vehicles were headed in a westerly direction on County Road 660, and they were getting close to U.S. 17.

It was said that the front of the sedan hit the back of the utility vehicle, which caused the utility vehicle to leave the road and hit a ditch and a wooden fence.

While this was going on, the sedan flipped over, went off the road, and eventually came to a stop on the north shoulder.

According to the FHP, all four individuals who were inside the John Deere were ejected. One of the passengers, a woman in her 30s, was declared deceased at the site of the accident. The second passenger was a 13-year-old boy. He was taken to Desoto Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Serious injuries were sustained by the driver of the vehicle as well as a passenger who was 10 years old. According to reports, the driver of the vehicle had very minor injuries.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
