Several arrests made after authorities found fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and a weapon inside a motel room

PLANTATION, Fla. – A convicted “violent offender of particular concern” was taken into custody on Sunday by authorities in Broward County on accusations related to drugs and weapons.

After reportedly hearing a man yelling and threatening to “come back with a gun and air this place out!”, a customer at the Plantation Inn Hotel & Lounge made the decision to contact the police.

The subject of the threat was identified by the deputies as Kevin Jackson, who was in a motel room with two women, Tranell Maynard and Gwendolyn Clark. The motel was located at 375 North State Road 7.

According to witnesses, Jackson, 53, from Lauderhill, was a regular guest in the motel room, and since August 28, a woman named Simon Sutherland had been renting the room. Jackson asserted that the woman was his girlfriend.

According to the arrest report, deputies searching the room discovered 15.2 grams of fentanyl, cocaine, 20 grams of marijuana, and a firearm that had been “stolen out of the Hollywood Police Department.”

Jackson, who also goes by the name Pee Wee, was accused of carrying out an armed robbery on May 20, 2021, and cocaine possession on April 11, 2021. According to the Florida Department of Corrections, his probation started on May 2 and was scheduled to conclude on May 1, 2030.

Jackson and Maynard are facing several charges, including armed trafficking in fentanyl, cocaine possession with intent of selling, grand theft of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, using or displaying a firearm during a felony, probation violation, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Clark is facing charges of armed trafficking in fentanyl, cocaine possession with intent of selling, grand theft of a firearm, using or displaying a firearm during a felony, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
