“Unknown chemicals” found in Oakland Park neighborhood, fire department crews and BSO deputies responded to the scene

OAKLAND PARK, Florida – After responding to a hazmat call in a residential area Wednesday morning, Oakland Park Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office have given the all clear.

In the 3400 block of Northeast Eighth Avenue, “unknown chemicals” were found, according to Fire Rescue officials.

A BSO spokeswoman named Miranda Grossman said that crews were sent to a house in the area around 8:30 a.m.

She said that the BSO’s Bomb Squad looked into what happened, but nothing dangerous was found.

No one was hurt, and no one had to be taken away from the scene.

During the investigation, Northeast Eighth Avenue was closed between Northeast 32nd Street and Northeast 39th Street.

No other information was given right away.
