Orchestra Miami presents “Beethoven on the Beach” its annual popular free outdoor concert series

Every year, the popular free outdoor concert series “Beethoven on the Beach” is put on by Orchestra Miami. The title of the 2023 version is “Unfinished,” and the show is about two famous pieces of music that were never finished. The first piece is Ludwig van Beethoven’s 10th Symphony, which was left unfinished when he died in 1827.

When Beethoven died, he left behind sketches for two of the movements. Barry Cooper, a musicologist, will put together what is left of this symphony so that Orchestra Miami can play it for the first time in South Florida. This unknown piece by one of the most famous composers in the world will be played with Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony No. 8 in D Minor, D.759. The Overture and Entr’Actes to Bizet’s famous opera Carmen and the Overture to Camille Saint-Saens’ unfinished comic opera are also on the program. Elaine Rinaldi, who is the Artistic Director, will be in charge of the 42 musicians in Orchestra.

• Friday, March 3, 2023, at 8 p.m. at Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, 33156.
