19-year-old man is the shooter accused of killing three people, including a news reporter, while seriously injuring two other

Sheriff’s deputies in Orange County, Florida, say that a 19-year-old suspect went on a shooting spree that killed three people and left two others in critical condition. One of the people killed was a 9-year-old girl.

Keith Melvin Moses is only charged with one count of first-degree murder for allegedly killing Nathacha Augustin, 38, on Wednesday morning, but authorities say more charges will be filed.

Moses is accused of going back to the scene and shooting two people who worked for Spectrum News 13 in Central Florida. The 24-year-old reporter Dylan Lyons was killed. Photographer Jesse Walden is still alive, but he is in very bad shape.

Sheriff John Mina of Orange County says that Moses then went to a nearby house and shot a mother and a daughter. The mother was in critical condition but lived, but 9-year-old T’yonna Major did not.

“No one in our community, not even a 9-year-old kid or a person who works in the media, should be hurt by a gun,” Mina said.

An affidavit about Augustin’s death says that on Wednesday morning, she was riding around with a man. (Her name isn’t on the often-redacted document, but the sheriff’s office posts and Mina’s press conference gave more information.) This man told investigators that he and Augustin saw Moses walking north on Hastings Street. Moses “looked sad,” so they offered to take him somewhere. This person said that Moses sat in the back, behind Augustin. Documents show that the driver did not hear Moses and Augustin fighting, and that they did not know each other. But 30 seconds later, the driver heard a “bang” and saw that the woman’s face was covered in blood. At 6114 Hialeah Street, he stopped.

Authorities said, “The witness said he didn’t have any problems with anyone, and as far as he knew, [redacted] didn’t have any problems with anyone.” “The witness said that no one was following them.”

Investigators said that when they got to the scene at 6114 Hialeah Street at 11:17 a.m., the driver, passenger, and rear driver doors were all open on the white Hyundai. They said that Augustin was lying on her stomach outside the front passenger door. They said that she had been shot on the left side of her chin. A detective said that he or she found one empty shell casing in the car. The driver helped with the investigation by giving buccal swabs, hand swabs for gunshot residue, and even his clothing, which had Augustin’s blood on it. He said that Moses was the suspect and that the suspect ran away from the scene.

But Mina told reporters that at 4:05 p.m., 911 calls were made about another shooting at the same place. Lyons and Walden were found dead “in or near a vehicle.” He said it’s not clear why the men were shot. The sheriff said that Moses went to nearby Harrington Street, turned left, walked into a house, and shot both T’yonna Major, who was 9 years old, and her mother. It is also not clear why this shooting happened. Moses was soon caught nearby, and the sheriff said they found him with a gun in his hand.

Records show that there will be a hearing on Thursday.
