The main suspect accused of stabbing death Fort Lauderdale couple late last year had his first court appearing Thursday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – Detectives say that a 30-year-old man shot and killed a couple at their home in Davie during a domestic violence dispute. The man was in Broward County court in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.

On November 6, 2022, at the Driftwood Acres Mobile Home Park at 4800 Griffin Rd., police caught Luis Rodriguez for killing Michele Irias and Lazaro Marrero.

The Davie Police Department says that one person died at home and the other at the hospital. Kelly Luna Marrero, the daughter of the people who died, was in the courtroom when she talked about how sad she was.

“It hurt so much. She said through tears, “I could feel my whole body hurting. It hurt physically.” She also said, “As scared as I am of what will happen, I know that God will decide in the end.” I know that justice will be done no matter what happens.”

Sorayda Janania, Luna’s grandmother and Irias’s mother, was also in the courtroom and spoke Spanish to the judge.

“We need to be fair!”
