Investigation underway after pedestrian fatally atruck on I-95 in Broward County
Authorities in Broward County are currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred early Friday morning, resulting in the death of a male pedestrian who was lying on the busy interstate.
The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, near the Broward Boulevard exit. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was lying in the center travel lane when a Hyundai Elantra struck him.
Despite the driver’s efforts to avoid the pedestrian, the collision was unavoidable and resulted in the pedestrian’s immediate death. The driver of the Elantra remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members. Multiple lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation and clear the scene. The highway has since reopened to traffic.
Florida Highway Patrol officials are actively investigating the incident to determine the reason behind the pedestrian’s presence on the busy roadway.
