One injured in collision with Brightline train in Deerfield Beach

Deerfield Beach, Florida – A car and Brightline train were involved in a harrowing collision in Deerfield Beach on Wednesday evening, leaving one person hospitalized with serious injuries.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Southwest 10th Street and South Dixie Highway at approximately 8 p.m., and rescue crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid.

Eyewitness Chris Schatz, who saw the incident unfold, noted that it was a hard lesson learned, as the driver of the car attempted to beat the Brightline train, which ultimately proved unsuccessful.

Responders worked quickly to extricate the driver from the mangled vehicle, which was flipped on its side on the tracks, and transported him to an area hospital for medical treatment.

Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units remained on scene, investigating and working to remove the damaged car from the tracks.

Despite the severity of the crash, there were no other injuries reported among the passengers on the train.

As of late Wednesday night, the victim’s condition remains unknown, and traffic in all directions has been shut down near the intersection, according to the BSO. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise when attempting to take unnecessary risks and circumvent traffic regulations.
