Sheriff’s office appeals for public help in canal homicide case

Palm Beach County, Florida – The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is currently investigating a homicide case involving an unidentified woman whose body was discovered in a canal west of Delray Beach. The announcement of the investigation was made public on Monday.

The call to investigate came in on Sunday at 4:26 p.m., in response to a report of a body discovered in the canal located in the 5500 block of West Atlantic Avenue, west of South Military Trail. This information was confirmed by Teri Barbera, the spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

Following an autopsy performed on Monday by the medical examiner, the woman’s death was officially classified as a homicide.

The sheriff’s office is encouraging anyone with any potentially useful information about this case to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS or via the newly released “PBSO” app, available on Apple or Android smartphones. The app’s “Know Something – Say Something” feature allows users to report information securely. The app can be downloaded at www.pbsoapp.com.

As for the description of the victim, the PBSO disclosed that she is likely to be a white or Hispanic female aged between 25 and 40 years. According to the media advisory released, “The decedent had distinct identifiers such as a long sleeve leopard print shirt, long black pants, highlighter yellow finger nails and pink toe nails.” It was further stated that the woman had brown hair, stood at a height of approximately 5-foot-7, and weighed around 140-150 pounds.
