Coral Springs brings the community together for Chanukah
Coral Springs, Florida – At the Sportsplex Park, which is close to Coral Glades High School, the Coral Springs community came together for a big Chanukah celebration on Sunday.
Bumper cars, an inflatable slide, a climbing wall, pony rides, laser tag, and bungee jumping were among the several family-friendly and kid-friendly activities offered during the event.
Attendees were thrilled by live music as adolescents interacted and played football. Hotdogs, hamburgers, and sufganiyot—the customary jelly doughnuts connected to the holiday—were popular dinner alternatives for families.
The Chabad Jewish Center’s Rabbi Yankie Denburg discussed the meaning of Chanukah.
We commemorate the wonders of religious freedom and Chanukah. We rejoice in the victory of light over evil.
Yael Hanover enjoyed the joyous ambiance and the public holiday celebration while she was there with her kids.
It was wonderful to see the Jewish community together for such a family-friendly event, according to Commissioner Joshua Simmons.
According to custom, Rabbi Denburg stood above the children and tossed gelt, or chocolate coins, to them, urging the elderly attendees to pass them along to the younger ones.
Rabbi Denburg and local community leaders lit five candles on the menorah to conclude the celebration. Simmons and Catherine Givens, the city manager of Coral Springs, also lighted a candle.
The event was arranged by Lubavitch Hebrew Academy, Chabad of Coral Springs, Israeli Chabad Center, and Chabad Jewish Center.
