Coral Springs Coconut Creek Chamber to host government relations forum on Florida property tax amendment and its potential impact

Coral Springs, Florida – The Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce is preparing to host a government relations forum focused on Florida’s proposed property tax constitutional amendment and what it could mean for homeowners, businesses and local governments.

The event, titled “Smart Leadership: Navigating Florida’s Property Tax Constitutional Amendment,” is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 5 p.m. The forum will take place at the Coral Springs City Hall Commission Chambers, located at 9500 West Sample Road.

The discussion is expected to examine the potential effects of the proposed amendment as Florida communities consider how changes to property taxes could influence both residents and local governments.

Among the featured speakers will be Broward County Property Appraiser Marty Kiar and state Rep. Christine Hunschofsky, who represents Florida House District 96.

Their participation will give attendees an opportunity to hear perspectives from both the local property appraisal side and the state legislative level. The forum will focus on the possible consequences for people who own property, businesses that pay property taxes and the local governments that depend on property tax revenue.

Property taxes are an important source of funding for local governments, helping support public services and community operations. As a result, changes to the state’s property tax system could have effects that extend beyond individual tax bills.

The Chamber said the forum is intended to help the business community and residents better understand the proposed constitutional amendment and its potential implications.

The event will also consider how any changes could affect communities and the services provided by local governments. That makes the discussion relevant not only to property owners, but also to businesses and residents who rely on public services.

Florida Power & Light is serving as the presenting sponsor for the event.

The September forum is part of the Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce’s government relations programming, bringing together local and state officials to discuss an issue with potential consequences for the region.

The one-hour forum will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. at Coral Springs City Hall. Attendees will be able to hear from Kiar and Hunschofsky as the discussion examines the possible effects of the proposed property tax constitutional amendment on homeowners, businesses and local governments across Florida.
