Officials in Coral Springs urge citizens to participate in the Meals on Wheels Program

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs is encouraging qualified citizens to enroll in Meals on Wheels South Florida, a service that serves meals and offers assistance to the elderly and those with special needs.

The city has a direct agreement with Meals on Wheels, one of only two in Broward County.
Through volunteer check-ins, the program facilitates social connection while delivering weekly breakfasts and dinners to members’ homes.

The program now has 46 persons registered, but according to city authorities, more seniors who qualify can be helped.

Funded by a federal Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the program was launched in July 2024.

Nearly $70,000 has been allotted thus far, according to city records, and the program is anticipated to last through September with the existing financing.

Applicants must complete a phone or in-home evaluation to ascertain their individual needs in order to be eligible.

The program also offers additional services including cost-share choices and emergency meals.
