Paramedics in Coral Springs and Parkland will conduct on-scene blood tests using new technology

Coral Springs, Florida – In less than two minutes, paramedics from the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department will be able to do blood tests at emergency scenes using portable equipment.
According to an article in the city’s Under the Sun magazine, first responders will be able to measure blood gases, lactate levels, and other important metabolic markers right at the patient’s side using the epoc® Blood Analysis System.
The new technology could improve communication with hospitals and help paramedics diagnose illnesses like sepsis, respiratory distress, and diabetic situations more quickly.
This year, the gadgets are expected to be installed in rescue vehicles.
The cost of each gadget and the number of cars that will transport it, if any, were unknown.
