40 year old Coral Springs’ social sciences teacher arrested following sexually suggestive comments to student from J.P. Taravella High School

Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs teacher is accused of making sexually provocative comments to a kid before his arrest this week and charges of exploiting his position of responsibility to engage in an improper relationship with a student.

According to the arrest record, Lem McKinney, a forty-year-old social sciences teacher at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs, began making personally and sexually charged remarks to a sixteen-year-old student at the start of the school year.

The investigation says he reassured the student she was “special,” addressed his romantic and sexual experiences, and said they had a clear “vibe and connection.”

The investigation says that McKinney followed the student on social media to have private conversations with him and assured him that their interactions would remain private when they did.

Furthermore, the reported instances of his inappropriate remarks regarding sexuality let the student know that his wife “would never know” should she visit his house.

The report states that McKinney’s reaction to the student’s rejection of his advances was “You’re missing out though.”

McKinney has also been accused of demanding sexual favors from a pupil and of inappropriate conduct with another pupil. Tuesday saw his detention taken.

Broward County Public Schools officially state that he has been employed at J.P. Taravella High School since March 2022. Moreover, he has been moved away from the institution in expectation of the issue being resolved.
