Coral Springs city officials are considering a $50,000 grant to help renovate a storefront at Coral Square Mall as part of the city’s Economic Development Incentive Program aimed at revitalizing aging commercial properties

Coral Springs, Florida – The city of Coral Springs is considering a $50,000 grant to support the renovation of a storefront at the Coral Square Mall. The grant, which falls under the city’s Economic Development Incentive Program, aims to revitalize aging commercial properties and stimulate business growth in the area.

City commissioners are expected to review the grant proposal this week, which is being requested by PERF OPCO, LLC, a company based in nearby Miramar. According to a memo from the city, the project involves demolishing an existing storefront and rebuilding it with a new 20-foot frontage that meets the mall’s updated design criteria. However, the memo does not specify which store will be undergoing the renovation.

This grant is part of a broader initiative designed to encourage business investment and improve the visual appeal of Coral Springs’ commercial properties. The goal is to modernize aging structures and attract new businesses to the area, boosting both local employment and the economy.

The renovation project, if approved, will include extensive work such as demolition, carpentry, window installation, painting, flooring, and electrical upgrades. These improvements are intended to enhance the storefront’s appearance and functionality, creating a more inviting space for shoppers and businesses alike. The new design will also better align with the mall’s overall aesthetic, contributing to the long-term success of the Coral Square Mall as a key retail hub in the region.

The grant request is being considered under the city’s Economic Development Incentive Program, which helps support renovations and upgrades for businesses that show potential for revitalizing the community. If approved, the grant will cover up to 50% of eligible renovation costs, with a cap of $50,000. The funds would be disbursed to PERF OPCO, LLC only after the completion of the project and full verification of payment, ensuring that the work is done to satisfaction before the grant is awarded.

The project has a deadline for completion set for September 14, giving the company just under six months to finish the work once the grant is approved. The renovation is expected to improve the overall shopping experience for customers at Coral Square Mall, while also attracting new tenants to fill available retail spaces.

“We are committed to revitalizing our commercial spaces, and this grant will help us achieve that goal by supporting businesses that are investing in our community,” said a Coral Springs city spokesperson. “By encouraging renovations like this one, we can foster economic growth, create jobs, and ensure that Coral Square Mall continues to thrive as a key part of our city’s retail landscape.”

If approved, the grant could be a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to breathe new life into Coral Springs’ commercial properties, offering both financial support for business owners and a more attractive shopping environment for the community.
