Governor Ron DeSantis announces the appointment of two judges to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida

Tallahassee, Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis has announced two key judicial appointments to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida, further shaping the state’s legal landscape. The appointments were made as part of the ongoing effort to ensure that the court continues to serve its community effectively and with qualified individuals at its helm.
The first of these appointments is Amanda Levy-Reis, who will now serve as a Judge on the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court. Levy-Reis, a resident of Bonita Springs, has an extensive background in legal services. Since 2023, she has worked as a Staff Attorney for Florida Rural Legal Services, where she helped provide vital support to those in need. Prior to that, she gained valuable experience as a Law Clerk for the U.S. District Court. Levy-Reis holds both a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctor from Stetson University, showcasing her solid academic foundation. She takes over the judicial position left vacant following the resignation of Judge Joseph Fuller.

In addition, Governor DeSantis appointed James Stewart, of Naples, to fill another vacant position on the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court. Stewart has a longstanding career in the legal field, having served as the Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney in the Twentieth Judicial Circuit since 2022. His career in public service stretches back to 2007 when he first became an Assistant State Attorney. Stewart earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his juris doctor from Northeastern University, giving him a well-rounded academic background. Stewart fills the position previously held by Judge James Sloan, who also resigned.
These two appointments are part of DeSantis’ broader efforts to ensure the state’s courts are staffed with competent and dedicated professionals. Both Levy-Reis and Stewart bring with them a wealth of experience that will serve the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court and its constituents well.
