Man arrested for drug possession after police surveillance near Coral Springs park leads to discovery of Percocet pills

Coral Springs, Florida – A covert police operation near Ralph Diaz Memorial Park culminated in the arrest of a 34-year-old man on drug charges after he allegedly fled from officers and was found carrying prescription pills without documentation. The arrest occurred on April 25, 2025, around 6 p.m. when officers conducting surveillance spotted Brandon Hill, a Coral Springs resident, riding his bicycle near the park at 9701 NW 19th Street.

Hill was already a known figure to law enforcement, as he was wanted for a probation violation related to a prior DUI case. Officers watching the area recognized him immediately and began monitoring his actions. Hill was seen approaching a black Cadillac SUV in the park’s parking lot, where he appeared to exchange something with the driver before the vehicle drove off. Although police were too far away to clearly see what was exchanged, the interaction raised suspicions.

When officers attempted to stop Hill on his bicycle, he allegedly ignored their commands and continued riding eastbound on NW 19th Street. Police pursued Hill for approximately 230 feet before catching up with him and detaining him. A search of Hill’s pockets revealed a Newport cigarette pack containing six Percocet pills, a powerful opioid, which Hill did not have a prescription for.

Hill told the officers that he had a prescription for the pills at home but was unable to provide any documentation or show a prescription bottle, which raised further concerns. He was charged with possession of oxycodone (the active ingredient in Percocet), obstruction without violence, and was arrested on the outstanding warrant related to his probation violation.

The arrest has once again highlighted the ongoing efforts of Coral Springs Police to curb illegal drug activity in the area, particularly near local parks where such exchanges may be taking place under the radar. Hill was taken to Broward County Jail and later released on bond. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in preventing illegal drug use and sales in the community.

As investigations continue, law enforcement encourages residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. Police are committed to keeping Coral Springs a safe place for all, with proactive measures such as this surveillance operation proving essential in addressing potential criminal behavior.
