Festival Marketplace in Pompano Beach closes after serving shoppers for decades in Broward County

Coral Springs, Florida – After decades of offering affordable goods and unique finds, the Festival Marketplace in Pompano Beach is set to close its doors for the final time this month. Located at 2900 West Sample Road, this beloved shopping hub has been a go-to destination for bargain hunters and those looking for an eclectic mix of products.
For years, the marketplace, home to over 250 small vendors, drew in shoppers seeking everything from clothing and shoes to electronics, jewelry, and even international foods. The indoor market, a staple in northwest Broward County, built a loyal following with its variety of items that ranged from everyday necessities to rare, hard-to-find treasures.
However, a zoning change approved by the city of Pompano Beach in 2022 has paved the way for a significant transformation of the property. The zoning shift allows for warehouse development on the site, which has prompted the closure of the marketplace. IMC Equity, which purchased the property in 2018, has partnered with Atlanta-based IDI Logistics to develop a large-scale warehouse complex. The proposed project will span about 470,000 square feet of space, though the timeline for its development remains unclear.
While the change in the area marks the end of an era for the Festival Marketplace, it also signals a shift in the region’s growth and the changing demands of commercial space. The market’s closing is a bittersweet moment for many longtime patrons who fondly remember spending hours browsing its diverse offerings.
As the space transitions into a new chapter, the community is left to reflect on the memories and experiences created over the years. The Festival Marketplace may be closing its doors, but its place in local history is sure to remain.
