Coral Springs man faces domestic violence charges following violent argument over family puppies

Coral Springs, Florida – What started as a family disagreement over puppies ended in violence and a police response, resulting in the arrest of a Coral Springs man on domestic violence charges.

The incident unfolded on May 18 at a residence in Coral Springs when 45-year-old Andres Baron became enraged during an argument about giving away the family’s puppies. According to the police report, the situation escalated quickly, leading to physical aggression and verbal threats that alarmed his wife and daughter.

During the heated confrontation, Baron allegedly shoved his wife into a banister and spat in her face multiple times. At one point, police say he threatened to strike her with a chair. His behavior became increasingly erratic, and the couple’s daughter, distressed by the scene, reportedly cried out that she no longer wanted to be part of the family.

Baron’s wife told responding officers that he was breaking furniture around the home and yelling chilling threats. According to her account, Baron shouted statements such as, “I want to smash you to pieces” and “I want to break you to pieces.” Fearing for her safety, she locked herself in the bathroom, using her body weight to hold the door closed while she called 911 for help.

By the time officers arrived, Baron had already left the house. He reportedly went to seek medical attention for a thumb injury, which he said happened when he threw a chair during the outburst. Later, he returned home, where police confronted him.

In his statement to officers, Baron admitted to breaking household items and acknowledged yelling during the argument. He claimed that any spitting that occurred was unintentional and happened while he was shouting. Despite this explanation, officers determined that his behavior during the incident caused his wife to fear for her life.

Baron was arrested on charges of assault related to domestic violence. After receiving medical treatment at Broward Health Coral Springs, he was transported to Broward County Jail. He was later released on bond and is currently under a court-issued no-contact order, which prohibits him from making any contact with the victim.

The case is now in the hands of the legal system. While Baron awaits further legal proceedings, the incident serves as a disturbing example of how quickly domestic disputes can escalate into dangerous territory.

Coral Springs police have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation, and it remains unclear whether further charges will be filed. No injuries aside from Baron’s reported thumb injury were documented, but authorities emphasized the seriousness of the threats and damage done during the incident.

This case adds to a growing list of domestic-related arrests in the area, and local officials continue to urge individuals in abusive or dangerous situations to seek help and report incidents to authorities.
