Coral Springs annual Memorial Day ceremony set for Monday honoring fallen service members with community remembrance and military tributes
Coral Springs, Florida – The City of Coral Springs is preparing to come together once again in solemn reflection as it hosts its annual Memorial Day Ceremony, an event dedicated to honoring the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The gathering is set to take place on Monday, May 25, bringing residents, veterans, and local leaders together in a shared moment of remembrance.
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 8601 Royal Palm Boulevard. City officials say the location has long served as a meaningful space for community reflection, especially during events that recognize military service and sacrifice. The program is being held in partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, continuing a collaboration that helps ensure veterans remain at the center of the annual observance.

This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Joe Scott, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections, who also brings a distinguished military background. A veteran of the Iraq War, Scott previously served as an officer in the U.S. Army after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point. His service included deployment in South Korea and later work as an embedded advisor with the Iraqi Army.
During his military career, Scott earned the Combat Action Badge and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Iraq. He assumed his current role as Supervisor of Elections in January 2021, according to city officials, transitioning from military service to public administration while continuing his involvement in civic life.
The ceremony will also feature participation from younger members of the community, including a performance of Taps by Isabella Bautista, a student at Coral Springs Charter School. Her role in the program adds a reflective and emotional tone to the event, symbolizing remembrance across generations.
In addition to speeches and musical tribute, the ceremony will include a series of traditional military honors. These will begin with the Presentation of Colors, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony conducted by the Coral Springs Civil Air Patrol. A salute volley is also planned, along with formal honors presented by the Coral Springs Police Honor Guard.
Each of these elements is designed to reflect the traditions associated with Memorial Day observances across the country, while also highlighting the contributions of local veterans and service members.
