Man arrested in connection to fatal wrong-way crash that killed stepson of former Coral Springs mayor

Coral Springs, Florida – A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly wrong-way crash in Pompano Beach that claimed the life of a 36-year-old man who was the stepson of former Coral Springs Mayor Vincent Boccard.

Authorities say Sult President, 47, is facing charges of driving under the influence and vehicular homicide following the incident, which occurred on April 11. He is now being held on a bond set at $210,000, according to court records.

Police said the crash happened when President was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of an overpass on the Florida Turnpike near West Sample Road. His vehicle collided head-on with another car, resulting in a fatal impact.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Nicholas Addis, 36, did not survive the crash. Officials confirmed that Addis was the stepson of former Coral Springs Mayor Vincent Boccard, adding a layer of local impact to the tragedy.

Investigators have not released additional details about what led President to enter the wrong side of the roadway, but the charges indicate that impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to review evidence from the scene.

The collision caused significant disruption in the area at the time, as emergency crews responded to the overpass to assist victims and manage traffic flow. The crash site required extensive cleanup due to the severity of the impact.

Court records show that President was formally charged following the investigation and remains in custody. The DUI and vehicular homicide charges carry serious penalties under Florida law, especially in cases involving fatal crashes.

Community members connected to the victim have expressed shock over the sudden loss, particularly given his ties to a well-known local political family. While officials have not released statements regarding memorial arrangements, the case has drawn attention across Broward County.

Authorities continue to urge drivers to remain vigilant and avoid impaired driving, noting that wrong-way crashes often result in severe or fatal consequences. The Florida Highway Patrol and local agencies frequently monitor major roadways like the Turnpike to prevent similar incidents.

As the legal process moves forward, President is expected to make future court appearances where additional details surrounding the crash may be presented. For now, the investigation remains ongoing as officials work to finalize the circumstances that led to the deadly collision.
