New Coral Springs training facility UNLMTD Performance focuses on personalized workouts and movement-based fitness for every client

Coral Springs, Florida – For Garrett Dolgon, opening a training facility in Coral Springs was not a sudden change of direction. It was the result of a career that had taken him away from something he had always enjoyed.

Dolgon spent 15 years working in corporate sales. Outside of work, however, he was often around youth football and softball fields across South Florida. When his department was eliminated during a corporate reorganization, he decided it was time to pursue training more seriously.

That decision led to UNLMTD Performance, a new training facility that opened at the end of May in Coral Springs. Located at 3700 NW 124th Ave., Unit 104, in the city’s corporate park, the facility has been gradually building its client base.

Dolgon is careful about how he describes the business.

“It is a training facility,” Dolgon said.

That distinction is central to the way UNLMTD Performance operates. The approach does not begin with handing a new client a set of weights and asking them to perform a standard series of exercises. Instead, Dolgon starts by looking at how the person moves.

During an initial assessment, he examines posture, gait and movement patterns. He also asks about medical history, previous injuries and the client’s goals. The information is then used to create a program built around the individual rather than simply putting everyone through the same workout.

For some clients, the reason for coming through the door is not about getting stronger or changing their appearance. They may be dealing with shoulder, hip or back discomfort and want to move better.

“I get people come in. I’ve got shoulder pain. I’ve got a creaky hip. I’ve got back pain,” he said. “Most traditional treatments are treating the site of pain, whereas we look at the body as a connected system.”

That philosophy influences the way Dolgon builds each program. Rather than concentrating only on the area that hurts, he looks at how different parts of the body work together and whether one area may be compensating for another.

The process can begin with correcting movement patterns. From there, clients work on strengthening areas that may have been compensating before progressing into more dynamic exercises.

Movement in the real world, Dolgon points out, is rarely limited to a straight line. Sports require quick changes of direction, while everyday activities can involve reaching, lifting, twisting and carrying.

“You need to have your body resilient and able and prepared for whatever comes your way,” he said, “whether that is having to make a change of direction in a sport, or hey, you’ve got to take your luggage up and put it in the overhead compartment.”

That broad focus has resulted in a client list that includes people with very different goals.

Young athletes preparing for competition train at UNLMTD Performance, including high school and college athletes. At the same time, the facility works with people who are new to exercise, clients working around injuries and older adults who want to maintain their ability to move as they age.

The common thread is not age or athletic ability. It is the goal each person brings with them.

Dolgon’s own background in sports plays a role in his approach. He was an all-state football player in New York and was recruited to play at the college level. He has also spent years around gyms, beginning when he was about 12 years old.

Over time, however, it was not simply the physical side of training that kept his interest. Coaching became the part he enjoyed most.

For Dolgon, one of the most rewarding moments comes when an athlete or client finally understands a movement after practicing it repeatedly.

“They finally have that aha moment where they start to get it, because you’ve been practicing so consciously that then they begin to perform unconsciously,” he said. “That’s always been a great joy for me.”

That idea of learning and eventually moving naturally is reflected in the way UNLMTD Performance programs are designed. Dolgon does not start with a fixed workout and then find a reason to use it. Instead, he works backward from the client’s objective.

The goal could be sports-related, such as hitting a baseball farther. It could be something much more ordinary, such as being able to pick up a toddler without pain. For someone else, the motivation might simply be feeling more comfortable and confident in their body.

Those differences mean there is no single workout that defines a session at the facility.

“No two sessions look alike.”

The personalized approach is also intended to make the facility approachable for people who may not feel comfortable in a traditional gym environment. Someone who has never trained before is welcomed alongside experienced athletes, with the program adjusted to meet the person’s current ability and goals.

Dolgon said the facility is meant to be a place where people can focus on improving their movement without feeling out of place.

“This is a place where all are welcome,” Dolgon said. “You feel better walking out than when you came in.”

UNLMTD Performance is also serving clients beyond Coral Springs, with services available to people in Parkland, Coconut Creek, Margate and Tamarac.

The facility’s opening adds another fitness option to the Coral Springs area, but Dolgon’s model is different from a conventional gym built around equipment and independent workouts. The emphasis is on assessment, movement, individualized programming and long-term physical ability.

For Dolgon, the business also represents a career shift that grew from something he had been doing for years outside his corporate job. After spending 15 years in sales, he now gets to spend his working days doing what had continued to interest him on South Florida’s athletic fields.

At UNLMTD Performance, the barbell is not necessarily the starting point. First comes the person, how that person moves, what has happened to their body in the past and what they want to be able to do next.
