Hyundai crashes into canal after driver veers off Sample Road following reported traffic incident in Coral Springs
Coral Springs, Florida – Four people escaped injury Sunday night after a Hyundai Kona crashed through a guardrail and ended up in a canal near the intersection of Sample Road and Riverside Drive in Coral Springs, according to police.
The crash happened near the northeast corner of the intersection, where the vehicle left the roadway and entered the canal. Coral Springs Police said they received a call about the incident at approximately 8:07 p.m.
According to investigators, a 34-year-old man was driving a 2026 Hyundai Kona westbound on Sample Road when another vehicle reportedly moved in front of him.
Police said the driver then veered toward the northeast corner of Sample Road and Riverside Drive. The Kona struck a guardrail before continuing off the roadway and crashing into the canal.
The vehicle had four occupants at the time of the crash. Despite the impact and the vehicle entering the canal, police said no injuries were reported.
The incident brought emergency attention to the intersection Sunday evening, but authorities did not report any injuries among the people inside the Hyundai.
Details about the other vehicle involved, including its driver or whether it remained at the scene, were not immediately provided by police. It was also not immediately clear what prompted the other vehicle to move in front of the Hyundai.
The crash remains subject to the information available from the Coral Springs Police Department, and authorities did not immediately release additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The crash occurred at a busy intersection where Sample Road and Riverside Drive meet, with the Hyundai ultimately coming to rest in the canal after crossing the guardrail.

While the vehicle sustained the consequences of the crash, the outcome was relatively fortunate for those inside. Four people were in the Kona, and none were reported injured.
