Coral Springs candidates to face voters at Chabad Jewish Center forum Oct. 11

Coral Springs, Florida – Candidates running for mayor and City Commission in Coral Springs will have another opportunity to meet with voters and answer questions when the Chabad Jewish Center hosts a nonpartisan candidate forum next month.

The forum is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Chabad Jewish Center, located at 11325 W. Atlantic Blvd. The event is free and open to the public, and all candidates in the Coral Springs mayoral and City Commission races have been invited.

Candidates will receive equal time to introduce themselves before taking part in a question-and-answer session. Rabbi Yankie Denburg will moderate the forum.

The event is designed to give members of the local Jewish community an opportunity to hear directly from the people seeking elected office and ask about issues that matter to them.

“It is important that we, as a community, not only vote, but also show up and make our presence felt,” said Rabbi Yankie Denburg, of Chabad Jewish Center.

The Oct. 11 gathering comes shortly after another candidate forum focused on the same upcoming election. The League of Women Voters of Broward County held a virtual forum on Oct. 1 covering the mayor’s race and the two contested City Commission seats that will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot.

For Chabad Jewish Center, the upcoming in-person event is also an opportunity for residents to become more familiar with the candidates before Election Day.

“When candidates see an informed and engaged Jewish community, it sends a meaningful message that we care deeply about our town, are invested in its future, and want our community’s concerns to be heard,” Denburg said.

The election will also mark a change in the length of the mayor’s term. This will be the first Coral Springs election in which the winner of the mayoral race will serve a four-year term rather than a two-year term.

Voters approved that change in 2024, making the upcoming election the first opportunity for the new four-year mayoral term to take effect.

With the election approaching, residents will have several opportunities to hear from candidates before casting their ballots. The Chabad forum will provide one of those opportunities, with candidates expected to speak directly with community members in a setting where questions can be addressed.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election is scheduled to run from Oct. 19 through Nov. 1.

The Chabad Jewish Center is inviting residents to attend the Oct. 11 forum and take part in the discussion. The event will allow voters to hear the candidates’ introductions and responses during the question-and-answer portion before the November election.
