Coral Springs man arrested after police discover backpack full of marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia in vehicle
Coral Springs, Florida – A routine call from a concerned neighbor led to the arrest of a Coral Springs man on drug-related charges earlier this month. Daniel Lafleur, 24, was taken into custody after police discovered marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia in his car parked near his apartment complex on West Atlantic Boulevard.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 7, when a resident in the 11200 block of West Atlantic Boulevard contacted the police about a suspicious gray Toyota with no license plate. The caller suspected drug use inside the vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers immediately detected the unmistakable smell of marijuana and observed several individuals inside the car.
According to the police report, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Lafleur, had a joint in the cup holder of the car’s center console. At his feet, a backpack sat in plain sight. When questioned about the contents of the backpack, Lafleur reportedly admitted that it belonged to him and contained marijuana.

Police found significant evidence of drug activity inside the bag, including multiple bags of cannabis, a digital scale, and a large sum of cash amounting to $806. Further inspection revealed vacuum-sealed bags, jars, and other packaging materials, all of which are commonly used in the distribution of illegal substances. The total amount of marijuana found was nearly 92 grams.
Lafleur was promptly arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. The discovery of the marijuana, along with the packaging materials and the cash, indicated that Lafleur may have been involved in drug dealing.
Following his arrest, Lafleur was transported to the Broward County Jail, where he was booked and later released after posting bond. Court records show that Lafleur is currently awaiting further legal proceedings related to the charges.
