Coral Springs and Parkland teens in The Introverts win $2,500 top prize at Boca Raton Battle of the Bands
Coral Springs, Florida – A group of young musicians from Coral Springs and Parkland has taken home the top prize in the Under 20 division of Boca Raton’s annual Battle of the Bands competition.
The band, The Introverts, won the Under 20 category during the City of Boca Raton’s 6th Annual Battle of the Bands on Friday, Aug. 7. Their performance at the Mizner Park Amphitheater earned them a $2,500 grand prize.
The group is made up of five teenagers — Reagan Emery on drums and vocals, Clayton Singer on guitar, Camryn Woodham on bass, Mason Martinez on vocals and Nikhil Ramchandran on guitar.
The Introverts were one of several young bands competing for the Under 20 title. They ultimately finished ahead of Plan 9, Prickly Dogfish and The Ruffles to claim the top award in their division.
The competition brought together musicians from different age groups, with performers divided into two separate brackets. One was reserved for musicians under 20, while the other was open to competitors ages 20 and older.
The format gave each act a limited amount of time to make an impression. Every band received about 25 minutes on stage to perform in front of the audience and judges.
For The Introverts, the night ended with both recognition and a substantial cash prize. Their $2,500 award was one of two grand prizes handed out during the competition.
The Marina Effect, a Miami-based band, won the Over 20 category and received the other $2,500 prize. The group had an additional reason to celebrate, having returned to defend the title it won during the 2025 Battle of the Bands competition.
While the two winning groups received the largest awards, the other finalists did not leave empty-handed. All eight finalists across the two categories received $500 for participating in the final event.
The winners were announced later in the evening after the performances had concluded. Judges began deliberating at about 10:10 p.m., with the awards ceremony following shortly afterward at approximately 10:20 p.m.
The event was part of Boca Raton’s Summer in the City series, which featured free concerts at the Mizner Park Amphitheater throughout the summer.
The Battle of the Bands provided a different kind of finale for the summer concert series, putting younger performers and more established musicians on the same stage in separate categories.
Boca Raton Mayor Andy Thomson congratulated both winning bands following the competition.
“Congratulations to The Introverts and The Marina Effect on an incredible night of music,” said Andy Thomson, mayor of the City of Boca Raton. “Both bands brought real energy and talent to the Mizner Park stage, and their wins are a testament to the depth of musical talent right here in South Florida.”
For The Introverts, the victory gives the Coral Springs and Parkland-area teenagers a notable achievement to add to their growing musical experience. The band members brought together drums, bass, two guitars and vocals for the performance, ultimately earning the highest score in the Under 20 bracket.
Their victory also puts the spotlight on the area’s younger musicians, who were given an opportunity to perform before a live crowd at a major outdoor venue.
The competition’s two-bracket format allowed performers to compete against musicians in a similar age group while still making the event a broader celebration of local music. With eight finalists ultimately taking the stage, the evening featured a mix of emerging young performers and older musicians.
The Introverts’ $2,500 win capped a successful night for the teenagers and provided a strong finish to their appearance at the Boca Raton event.
The Battle of the Bands also brought the summer concert season to a close at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, ending the run of free Summer in the City concerts that had been held at the venue throughout the summer.
