Coral Springs man jailed without bond after allegedly approaching female neighbors while awaiting trial in sex battery case
Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs man awaiting trial on a sexual battery case is back in the Broward County jail after police said he violated the conditions of his release by approaching women at his apartment complex.
Javier Alberto Gonzalez, 38, was arrested Sept. 15 outside his Wiles Road apartment after a judge revoked his release and ordered him held without bond, according to court records. Gonzalez had been allowed to remain free while his criminal case moved forward, but his release came with a strict requirement that he stay inside his apartment.
The latest trouble began Sept. 6, when a woman living in the same complex contacted police about a man who had approached two apartment doors. According to the police report, the man went to her front door and then to a neighboring woman’s door before trying the handles on both.
The woman provided police with surveillance video from a doorbell camera. Another resident told officers she recognized the man and said he was known around the neighborhood. She also told police that he gets around in an electric wheelchair and is sometimes accompanied by his child.

The property manager gave officers additional information. According to court records, the manager said Gonzalez had approached women in the parking lot and had touched himself in front of other residents.
Police responded to the apartment complex after the initial report, but officers did not find enough evidence at the time to make a criminal arrest. The incident was instead documented as suspicious activity.
The situation later became a violation of Gonzalez’s pretrial release conditions. Pretrial services determined that the behavior reported at the complex went against the requirement that he remain confined to his home while awaiting the outcome of his existing case.
A Broward County judge agreed and revoked his release on Sept. 15. Coral Springs police then arrested Gonzalez outside his apartment that evening and transported him to the county jail.
Gonzalez had been out on release since April while facing a case involving allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman, court records show. The current allegations involving his neighbors did not simply disappear after police initially classified the incident as suspicious. Instead, the reported conduct became significant because of the restrictions attached to his release.
He is now being held at the Broward County jail without bond as his underlying sexual battery case continues through the court system.
